This version of the Eiffel Tower architecture is now available in stores and shop.LEGO.com brand and, I believe, a selection of shops in Paris. EEC LEGO team has kindly sent review copies to AFOL selected sites.
The Eiffel Tower is undoubtedly the artificial structure most recognized and famous.
Built in 1889, it was supposed to stand for only 20 years before being dismantled, but Eiffel managed to convince the authorities that it was useful for communications and scientific experiments, which is still to this day.
This is the second model in LEGO product, the first being the 1: 300, 3400 10 181 giant piece launched in 2007.
This is a much smaller scale, and is only 300 mm high.
The box is a standard box architecture Black, well made, easy to open and useful for storing the finished model, but a little broken first, obviously.
There are not too wasteful of space inside.
Four bags and perfect bound book of instructions.
It is a very monochrome Overall, only green tiles grass darkness are not black, gray or silver.
Interestingly, the instructions do not say who designed the model: it could be the only set of the architecture in which it is not indicated.
But they offer more details on the design and construction of the actual structure, in French and English.
The construction begins with the foundation that is 14 x 14 squares. Two tiles are given names, which is a nice touch.
The middle section of the tower was built and as you can see, the new clip-ish plates are put to good use in this section, and in fact the whole tower. 1x2 grids are silver.
Then the legs are attached, again using the press machine.
This assembly is then glued to the base.
He stumbles a bit and it can be difficult to reach the level, despite the rigidity of the flexi-hose Technic help stability.
Finally, the upper part is made with clip-plates and abundance coatings and mounted on the center section.
The final model is a representation of the tower and in many ways more than the 2007 version is much easier to show!
$ 35 / £ 30 for 321 pieces, the price is on par with other architectural ensembles, which many would say is expensive compared to other issues, but when you buy a set of architecture, that is not only receive a well designed model is also receiving high-quality packaging, higher instructions and model appropriate experience decisions "adults".
I have two minor criticisms:
I think I would have preferred silver coins (tubes, racks and an octagonal section at the top) have been gray for uniformity.
Of course I would have preferred the whole tower that was made in cash!
It is impossible to reserve the apartment forced to look perfect while building instructions.
There is a problem with all the architectural ensembles, but worse, because it is linked on the long side.
I had to ask my Nexus 7 at the top of pages to keep them flat, which means working with both hands to turn.
Despite these complaints, I have no hesitation in recommending this game and I'm sure it will sell well, especially in Paris, where he will have no trouble competing with the horrible memories of the tower is there.
Note that if you are interested in photography: I bought a Nikon D610 for Christmas.
These (and Cloud Cuckoo Palace) are the first pictures I took with him.
I used the AF-S Micro 60mm f2.8 lens to f22 of these vaccines, it is now much more useful focal length when mounted on a full frame camera, rather than in my old D7000 DX. The model is lit by three flashes, released by Lastolite mild cases: one on each side and one above.
Camera Sensor is dust and hope to keep it that way: I was sick of the cloning of dust spots, which, when taken in small openings, are striking.
